I must start off with, do any of you know how annoying it is to keep telling the man that he needs to leave for work (since he's already an hour late), and trying to blog at the same time? My mojo keeps getting drowned in my screams that "You told them you'd be there in an hour - YOU NEED TO GO!" Geez. It is what, his third day at this job?
Anyway . . .
I clumsily stagger over to my desk this morning in order to check out the online scene, in the midst of being half asleep. Getting online I am bombarded with interesting things, which is a good thing for the five people that read my blog. So, let me fix myself a cup of coffee, and I will begin my comentation on what seems to be a hectic day in the online world.
First of all, I would like to mention my move to Typepad. I moved, because over here I'm able to make a completely custom layout. Actually, I can't make shit, but I'm hoping that one day I can get someone to do me a favor, and give my completely generic site a makeover. Also, I've changed the name from Gypsy Child to Atomic Mommy, which I'm sure the kid would find more fitting a title for me. Thanks to everyone who followed me here from my old blog at Wordpress.
The main thing on my mind this morning is a news article from Orlando, FL. A lady calls 911 and tells the operator that she is being held captive - she has been kidnapped. The operator tells her that she is wasting his time, and lectures her on the fact that if they send a search team out for her that she will probably have to pay for it. He compares her to Casey Anthony, which is enough to piss anybody off. Not only that, but later on this woman is found dead in a motel room, shot by an ex-boyfriend who later turns the gun on himself. I think this 911 operator should be severely punished. He more than likely assumed that the call was false, and I would say he relayed that information to police, which caused them to only listen half-heartedly. I mean, really, does this guy have any right to assume that lady wasn't completely serious? Boy, I bet he feels like an ass.
(You can find plenty of Casey Anthony info over at Mom Logic, if you're into that sort of thing. I, myself, am a murder mysteryaholic, and I eat this stuff up.)
Also, a couple other things that caught my attention this morning. Hybrid Cars, Vote Earth project, and the meteor research. I know I don't normally talk about stuff like this, but I'm perplexed and still half asleep.
On this hybrid car subject, are these fuel friendly rides really worth the hefty pricetag? I was looking at a couple this morning, and realized that they were thousands upon thousands (try 5 to 10) of dollars more expensive than a regular vehicle. But, they get anywhere from five to eight more miles to the gallon. Is it worth it?
Also, can you believe they found diamonds in the meteor debri that they found in the desert? This is not only extremely cool, but ironic to a point. It's cool because who doesn't like diamonds? It's ironic, because in the future we could be bombarded to our death by a woman's best friend. At least we will die a happy death, right? Death by Diamonds. Lovely.
This is a good idea. It's not only a good idea, but a great one. My only issue with this, is why did they have to make the national earth hour thing during the night time, where if we turn everything off we will be sitting in dark silence? Why not make it during the evening or morning time where we could shut everything off and not be worried about the monster in our closets? Oh well, either way it's a good thing.
Something a little different for today, but I can't promise it will last. And, I can't end this post without saying the word 'fart'. Ah, I feel better.
